NBA-Canada-Poster-Rogers-Place
NBA Canada Poster for Rogers Place

This is the first basketball related piece I created for Rogers Place in collaboration with the Oilers Entertainment Group.

I collaborated with Chris NgMukYuen on this piece. In this case, I set the art direction and I provided a few iterations to nail down the composition.

This piece was a milestone for me. I have been working for years on portraiture using digital media. Particularly adobe Fresco. All those hours at my digital easel in my “spare” time finally paid off in the form of this exciting project.

I painted the figures, skyline and texutres in fesco and integrated all the design elements in Photoshop and Illustrator.

The client was happy with the piece and I even received a DM from one of the players on posting it to Instagram. They seemed to be keen on potentially working with me but it didn’t go anywhere. I’M STILL KEEN ON WORKING WITH THEM!

Typography

For the typographic design of this poster, I pursued a graffiti inspired approach to the team names and a clean solid Capitalized Sans Serif for the info blocks.

Championship pedigree. Pascal Siakam. This piece was created as a promo piece/thank you to the Toronto Raptors and the Utah Jazz and NBA Canada fro bringing an NBA game to Canada. It was an incredible piece to paint and design.

This portion of the piece is very pleasing to me. It feels natural in regard to the movement of the player (Scottie Barnes) and I’m proud of the design elements that splash around him.

I was cognizant of the business of the piece and strived to use the black ink blotch details, body positions and colours to move the viewers eye around the design.
